Alexa Meade is this young girl (only 23), from Washington, who has come up with this very unique way of expressing herself. She's not only a painter, as she is also a performer, a photographer and a video artist. She paints people. Or better yet, she paints on people. Yep, that's right. She takes acrylic and paints upon the person's skin and clothes. The people become the characters she intends them to be. It's funny how she takes hiper realist drawing and flips it completely around. Suddenly 3D life turns into 2D art, that she captures forever in film. The work itself, as a performance is very brief, but i imagine it has deep resonance within the person who has become a piece of art as well for the viewers for a much longer period of time. It just makes us wonder about the person we are, the person other people perceive us to be and above all the person we could have become had we make some different choices. Again it kind of ties back to the quote of Richard Zimmler i talked about in the first post of this blog.
